Short Description of Church/Position
Perry Chapel Baptist Church has been committed to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with the rural communities of East Central Ohio since its founding in 1860 by 25 dedicated members. Over the years, God has blessed Perry Chapel with growth and opportunities to serve. In 1899 a new building was completed with the help of men from the congregation on land that was donated to the church. An addition to this building was completed in 1958 for additional classrooms. Several remodels and additions occurred in the 1980s and 1990s. God greatly blessed Perry Chapel in the ‘90s with a rapidly increasing congregation so a new building was in order. In May 2003, the first service was held in the new building which houses the sanctuary, offices and additional classrooms, nurseries, fireside room and kitchen. The upper floor is additional space for youth programs. At Perry Chapel, we strive to be a place where people of all ages can grow in Christ, serve others, and experience authentic community. Position Summary
Perry Chapel Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a devoted, Christ-centered Senior Pastor to lead our congregation both spiritually and administratively. The ideal candidate will be a gifted communicator—strong in preaching and teaching—with a clear vision for church growth and discipleship. We are looking for someone who will lead meaningful, reverent worship services and serve as the spiritual shepherd of our church family, guiding us in our mission to follow Jesus and serve our community with love and purpose.
Desired QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Key Responsibilities
• Demonstrated ability to consistently preach Biblically sound, relevant, and engaging messages for Sunday Morning and special services (Easter SonRise, Christmas Eve, etc).
• Lead Wednesday evening Bible study.
• Provide strong spiritual leadership and vision to guide the church.
• Develop and implement plans for growth, both spiritually and numerically.
• Provide and/or oversee visitation of church members in the hospital or other circumstances.
• Partner with Elders and supervise staff that directly report to Senior Pastor.
• Administer the ordinances of the church (Baptism and Communion).
• Perform weddings, baby dedications, and funerals.
• Uphold the constitution of Perry Chapel Baptist Church and our declarations of faith.
Qualifications
• Able to communicate your personal commitment to Jesus Christ and acceptance of Christ as Savior and Lord.
• Highly motivated, hard, working, and honest.
• A formal education which includes college and seminary degrees is preferred.
• A commitment to residing in the community.
• Ability to build relationships with the congregation by being approachable and friendly.
