Short Description of Church/Position
Wilmington First Baptist church was the first denomination to have a church building in the village of Wilmington in 1817. In 1853, the church was erected on the present site. In 1914, church growth presented a need for a larger, more modern building which resulted in our present structure. The First Baptist Church is an American Baptist Church affiliated with the Clinton Association, the Ohio Baptist Convention, and the American Baptist Convention.
Position Summary
Wilmington First Baptist Church is seeking a dedicated, Christ-centered Senior Pastor to provide spiritual and administrative leadership to our congregation. The ideal candidate will be a gifted preacher and teacher with a clear vision for church growth, committed to leading worship services that are meaningful, reverent. This individual will serve as the spiritual shepherd of our church family, guiding us in our mission to follow Christ and serve our community.

Key Responsibilities
• Preaching and Teaching: Prepare and deliver biblically sound, engaging, and relevant sermons. Provide strong teaching to equip the congregation for spiritual growth and discipleship.
• Worship Leadership: Plan and lead all aspects of worship services, ensuring they are God-honoring and spiritually enriching. This includes overseeing preaching, prayer, communion, and baptism.
• Spiritual Leadership & Vision: Provide strong, forward-thinking leadership to guide the church in achieving its mission and vision. Develop and implement strategies for sustainable church growth, both spiritually and numerically.
• Missions: Actively champion and support the church’s local, national, and international mission efforts.
Qualifications
• A clear personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a life marked by integrity, humility, and the fruits of the Spirit.
• Proven ability as a strong preacher and teacher of God's Word.
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is highly recommended and preferred.
• A commitment to residing in Wilmington or the surrounding area is a plus.
